The region accounts for around 82% of the entire Brazilian ocean economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EnvironPact Sustentabilidade e Resili\u00eancia and Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Get\u00falio Vargas (FGV) were ranked first in the Public Selection sponsored by BNDES for the development of studies for Maritime Spatial Planning (PEM) of the Southeast Marine Region of Brazil. The Sudeste Azul consortium, composed of the two companies, will be responsible for conducting studies on activities in the marine, coastal and oceanic environment in the states of Rio de Janeiro, S\u00e3o Paulo and Esp\u00edrito Santo. The contract, worth up to R$ 12 million, will be executed over 36 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a great achievement for EnvironPact and yet another opportunity for us to continue contributing to projects of national relevance. EnvironPact has had the blue economy in its DNA since its founding. We live off it. And we want to contribute and give back to society everything we know about the oceans. We are delighted to be part of building this legacy that will remain for the country,\u201d celebrated EnvironPact CEO and OceanPact COO Adriano Ranieri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PEM is an instrument for mapping the sea regarding current and potential resources, the integration of different socioeconomic agents, legal security and national sovereignty. The coastline of the Southeast Region makes up 40% of the Brazilian maritime area, known as the Blue Amazon. The region concentrates approximately 82% of the entire Brazilian ocean economy. In 2013, EnvironPact was responsible for developing another project of national relevance \u2013 MAREM (Environmental Mapping for Emergency Response at Sea) \u2013 designed for Ibama and the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP).
