Pedro Furtado is a biologist, Senior Consultant, Incident Command System (ICS) Specialist and accredited instructor by The Nautical Institute (United Kingdom) to teach all courses offered by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on Oil Spill Response. He has approximately 20 years of professional experience in the environmental area, working in different segments of the oil and natural gas industry in Brazil. He has experience in the development and implementation of incident management training programs. Pedro had the opportunity to work on the main environmental disasters that occurred in Brazil, among which the following stand out: the rupture of the Fundão dam (MG, 2016), the rupture of the Córrego do Feijão mine dam, in Brumadinho (MG, 2019), the oil spill in the Lagos Region (RJ, 2019), the grounding of the vessel MV Stellar Banner (MA, 2020) and the forest fire in Gongo Soco (MG, 2021).
