Rafael Monteiro is a chemical engineer with a postgraduate degree in occupational safety engineering and an extension course in Safety and Risk Management (Aberdeen University – United Kingdom). He has professional experience in consulting in the areas of operational safety and risk analysis and management with an emphasis on the oil and gas, mining, ports and terminals and chemical industries. He has theoretical and practical mastery of the following risk analysis methodologies/techniques: What-if; Hazard Identification; Identification – HazId); Hazard Analysis and Operability (Hazard and Operability – HazOp); Bow-Tie and critical elements of operational safety; Quantitative Risk Analysis (AQR) and Layer of Protection Analysis (Layer Of Protection Analysis – LOPA). Rafael also holds a Lead Auditor certification and constantly works as a lead auditor and technical analyst for the implementation of operational safety and integrity management systems, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) and other standards/guides of good practices for HSE adopted by the oil and gas industry (Safety Case, NR, IBAMA, IOGP, ISO 9.001, ISO 14.001 and ISO 45.001).
